Culture and Culinary in Chinatown
On May, 7, 2016, the Joliet Central Human Relations Club celebrated Asian American Pacific Islanders Heritage Month by taking our annual field trip to Chicago’s Chinatown. Thirty students had the opportunity to participate in a private historical tour of the new and old Chinatown, learned about Buddhist practice, ate delicious Chinese food, and shopped in nearby businesses.  Thank you JTHS Foundation for funding this trip.  Otherwise, our students would not have the opportunity to obtain this cultural knowledge first hand-without cost being a barrier.
